Strengthen Focus for Productivity

One of the difficulties we face while working in the office and at home is the issue of focus. Here are some sincere recommendations based on my own experiences. Because factors such as meetings, emails and environmental noise can sometimes hinder our productivity. But don't worry, you can increase your focus and work more efficiently with the suggestions I will share below. If you are ready, here is a list for you:

Organize Your Work Environment: Keep your work area clean and tidy. A messy and chaotic work environment can be distracting and create restlessness. You can increase comfort by using a simple, tidy desk and an ergonomic chair. At the same time, you can increase your motivation by decorating your work area with your personal items.

Try Wearing Headphones: It may be a good idea to wear headphones to increase your focus while preparing a presentation or report, or doing design or analysis. Wearing headphones has two benefits. First, you can block out outside noises by wearing headphones and create a quiet environment. Second, wearing headphones clearly conveys the message "I'm not available" to your colleagues. In this way, you can focus for longer periods without interruption. However, wearing headphones all day long may not be very practical. Using headphones for long periods can cause discomfort and can also be hindering communication. Therefore, you can prefer to wear headphones when there is a specific task that you need to focus on.

Benefit from Music: Neuroscience studies show that listening to classical and baroque music has positive effects on focus and concentration. I have been listening to it for a long time while writing articles or designing training, and I see its effect. I recommend...

Don't Skip Breaks: Take short breaks to rest your mind and increase your productivity. You can take short walks, take deep breaths, chat with your friends, or meditate. This will re-energize you and increase your focus. Try to take a 5-10 minute break after every 1 hour of work and avoid doing anything work-related during that break.

Limit the Length of Meetings: We can neither maintain our concentration nor be productive in long meetings, right? My advice is to limit your meetings to 40 minutes. If 40 minutes is not enough, definitely take a 5-10 minute break and continue.

Focus on a Single Task: Multitasking is actually not very suitable for us. Trying to do more than one task at the same time can make it difficult to focus and, as a result, decrease productivity. My advice is to focus on one task, complete it and then move on to the next. In this way, we can work more efficiently by focusing on a single task.

Reduce or Mute Notifications: As I read in a study, it can take us about 20 minutes to look at phone notifications and then focus again while working focused. Turn off or mute distracting stimuli such as social media or group notifications on WhatsApp. In this way, you can focus your attention on work.

An important point to keep in mind is that everyone's working preferences are different and it is important to find the best working style for you. By carefully observing your own work routine and working habits, you can determine the best focusing methods and increase your productivity. Everyone's working style is different, so it is important to understand your own needs and find the one that suits you. Get to know yourself, notice your most productive hours, experiment and take the time to discover your best working style. Ultimately, remember that you need to find your own unique way to be successful.
