Yesterday, on TV24, we discussed the results of a study conducted by Harvard University about working from home. In the results of the study, which involved approximately 1500 employees, I am sharing the most interesting points with you:
- 81% do not want to return to the office completely – they want to continue working from home or prefer a hybrid working model.
- 18% want to work in the office full-time. The most interesting and discussed point was this: most of those who say they want to work in the office full-time are parents. For many parents, home, which used to be a place of relaxation, has become a stress center due to household chores, the role of being a “teacher” at home, and work stress... Especially, I must mention that women have been very tired and worn out during this process.
- The percentage of married people who want to return to the office is higher than that of singles.
- One in three employees thinks that their performance and job quality this year is higher compared to last year.
- One in three employees states that they are more focused while working from home. This rate seems interesting, to be honest. One of the common problems I hear from my clients and mention in my trainings is focus.
A striking rate follows:
- One in two employees stated that the collaboration, support, and trust in leadership among colleagues has remained the same. This question has been asked to me frequently. For trust in managers, employers, and the company, I used to say 50% for Turkey. But unfortunately, I can’t say the same about collaboration and support among colleagues, based on my observations, I can clearly state that the rate is much lower. The interesting point is that people want to support and socialize, but they fail to do so.
Let’s talk about education and development:
- 35% have read more for personal development. Men have been able to spend more time than women (not surprising, right?).
- 34% have taken online courses for career development.
Sad rates:
- 34% have felt burned out.
- 25% had someone close to them get infected with COVID.
- 10% have contracted COVID.
- 2% have lost their job.
And a bit of gossip:
- 10% have started a new relationship.
- 8% have fallen in love.
We are changing and transforming, aren't we? Faster than ever before.
