What is the meaning of mobbing?
The word “mob”, which is originally based on the Latin word “mobile vulgus” meaning “unstable crowd”, means “gang” in English, and its verb use, namely “mobbing”, means “to gather around, attack or disturb”.

Researchers and academics working on mobbing use different terms (such as workplace bullying, intimidation), but they also define them differently.
I am sharing my favorite definitions below:
“systematic, frequently repeated, hostile and unethical behaviors of one or more people, usually directed at one person, that last for a certain period of time (at least 6 months) and that cause the person to become defenseless and helpless” (Leymann)
“behaviors that are unwanted by the victim, intentionally or unconsciously, repeated, clearly cause humiliation, guilt and distress, and can affect work performance and the work environment” (Einarsen and Raknes)
“continuous malicious acts, unfounded accusations, shaming, "intimidation efforts to remove the victim from the workplace by means such as damage to reputation" (Davenport, Schwartz, and Elliott)
